The rise of McBling

The rise of McBling fashion and aesthetics has fascinated me recently. I first discovered it on TikTok, where creators would hunt for early 2010s clothing and accessories at stores like Marshalls and TJ Maxx. The main inspiration for McBling fashion seems to stem from the "Jersey Shore" era and aesthetic, which I initially wasn't a huge fan of, but it definitely grows on you. Brands like Juicy Couture, Victoria's Secret, and Playboy are the main ones the girlies are searching for in stores. This bold form of self-expression—think orange foundation, light pink lipstick, and extremely low-waisted jeans—is definitely not for the faint of heart, especially since the "clean girl aesthetic" has become so popular. I admire the creators who make McBling fashion content because they are unapologetically themselves. While many people consider the aesthetic ugly, what drew me to it is the level of confidence and boldness these creators exude. Unapologetic, bold self-expression is often frowned upon in our society if it doesn’t fit within our current social norms. Ultimately, McBling fashion reminds us that style is personal, embracing what makes us feel confident is always in trend, and ultimately fashion is a never-ending cycle💓

  2. I totally did not realize that the name of this aesthetic was "McBling"! It's so interesting to observe the fashion cycle and how things are constantly going "in and out" of style. I loved reading this, as fashion is one of my interests as well!
