Remembering the E-girl

2020 was a year none of us will ever forget. We were all stuck at home, binge-watching Netflix, scrolling through TikTok, and trying to make the best of quarantine life. In the middle of all that, e-kid (e-girl and e-boy) fashion took off, and honestly, it was kind of cringy, but in the best way possible.

E-kid fashion was this perfect storm of grunge, goth, punk, and anime influences, but with a heavy dose of internet culture thrown in. Picture dark eyeliner, bold blush, oversized graphic tees, plaid skirts, and baggy jeans. Add a few chunky chains and a little heart stamp on your cheek, and you’ve basically got the look. So yeah, e-kid fashion might've been cringy in some ways, but it was also so iconic. It captured the spirit of 2020—chaotic, unpredictable, and a little bit over the top, but it was also creative and gave everyone the chance to be their unapologetic, internet-inspired selves.
