Feelin’ Groovy: ‘60s Hippie Fashion
I don’t know what it is about the ‘60s, but I’ve always been drawn to the era. Maybe it's because of The Beatles and their evolution from polished suits to full-on psychedelic rock gods. Or maybe it’s because Once Upon a Time in Hollywood made the whole scene look effortlessly cool, minus, you know, the murder part. Either way, I’ve always been fascinated by the carefree, rebellious, and slightly chaotic fashion of the hippie movement.
Hippie fashion wasn’t just about looking cool—it was a statement. A full-on rejection of stiff, put-together ‘50s fashion in favor of wild colors, flowy fabrics, and so much fringe. Bell-bottoms were so wide they could’ve caught flight, tie-dye was basically a personality trait, and vests were worn purely for the aesthetic because of function. Who needs that?
What I love most about this era is how it wasn’t just about the clothes; it was about an attitude. It was free-spirited, bold, and completely unbothered by trends or expectations. People dressed for themselves, for music festivals, for road trips down the California coast. It was chaotic, a little messy, but so iconic.
